Two of the world's most powerful bodies in the world sport have locked horns against each other. The
BCCI, cricket's most powerful national body and the
UEFA, powerhouse of European football are in a tussle over the Trademark of
Champions League T20, the multi-million dollar even proposed by the BCCI. The UEFA are claiming that they have the registered rights for the name "
Champions League",football tournament among all the
top clubs in Europe and that BCCI is using that name to popularise its tournament. This comes as an interesting twist in the CL T20 episode, after the
inaugural edition was put back due to the terror attacks in Mumbai. But it will be interesting to see two cash rich and powerful bodies clashing over this issue but UEFA must spare a thought that cricket is never in the lines of football, both in terms of popularity and revenue generation. Interesting days ahead for
Lalit Modi and
Platini.
